On Tuesday, October 22nd, at the AAP's Alfredo Lalor venue in Pilar, the thrilling final of the Copa Municipalidad del Pilar took place, featuring Sol de Agosto and La Natividad. In an intense match that ended in an 11-10 victory for Sol de Agosto after an extra chukker, Paco de Narváez scored the golden goal with a 40-yard penalty.
Jesse Bray, another American player making waves in Argentina, continued his strong season after reaching the semifinals in the Jockey Club Open. Following Mackenzie Weisz’s triumph in the Metro Alto, Bray adds another victory for U.S. players in Argentina.
Sol de Agosto was comprised of Raúl Colombres Jr., Jesse Bray, Paco de Narváez, and Santiago Toccalino. On the other side, La Natividad featured José Riglos, Ricardo Garrós Jr., Félix Esaín, and Javier Guerrero Jr.
Sol de Agosto controlled most of the match, led by the strong defensive plays of Toccalino and accurate penalty shots by De Narváez. Bray, one of the standout American players in the tournament, had a notable game until receiving his second yellow card, forcing him to leave the field for two minutes, which allowed La Natividad to close the gap and send the game into extra time. However, Sol de Agosto capitalized on an overtime penalty to claim victory.
In the awards ceremony, Santiago Toccalino was named MVP of the final. Dolfina Matea, played by Jesse Bray, was awarded Best Playing Pony by the AAP, and El Overo Alpachina, played by Esaín, was recognized as Best Argentine Polo Playing Pony.
